My name is Holly. I've spent the last few decades of my career slogging it out in large corporations, working in international human resources. I've lived in four countries and worked across dozens more.
In 2011, after a major health scare, my physician suggested I try to find a hobby (a nice way of saying "get a life"), something that would let me express my creative side and help alleviate some of the day-to-day stress.
I took a few courses at the London Jewellery School and after one full day, I was hooked. I've been trained in beading, wire wrapping, resin (cold enamel), pearls/pearl knotting, and an intensive programme in working with silver metal clay. I'm self-taught in the ancient art of chain maille, which seems to be my favourite of the various techniques.
I take inspiration from classical, antique designs. I can spend hours browsing in markets in cities like Prague, Istanbul, New Delhi, Paris, and Cairo, admiring the new and antique jewellery on display. (Or actually any city - just ask my kids).
I enjoy combining the different techniques into pieces that are truly unique - each one its own, expressive creation.
Although I still work as an HR professional on an interim, project-based basis, the jewellery design and creation is my passion - as well as traveling to some of the distant places mentioned above to directly source my own materials!
